Hearing From God

What could be more important than hearing God’s voice? It is available to all who will listen. Some do not want to really hear God’s voice for fear of what he will tell them, or simply because they want to do their own thing. With many it is the pressures of daily cares that are allowed to take priority over seeking God. Other desires and appetites enter in. Just plain laziness can also play a part. God is constantly speaking to everyone. We just don’t listen properly much of the time.
The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse
is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are
there words; Their voice is not heard. Their line (decree that all men
should worship God) has gone out through all the earth, And their
utterances to the end of the world.
PSALM 19:1-4
For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly
seen, being understood by the things that are made– (context 16-32)
Pythagoras, the ancient Greek mathematician and philosopher, rightly said, “Perception of the truth begins with silence,” that is, with quiet, inward surrender to it. Truth lives in the depths, for God lives in the depths. He stands behind all things. Therefore only he will attain the knowledge of Divine truth who seriously and honestly immerses himself in it. –Eric Sauer, The King of the Earth – Pg. 38
