O Taste and See

O taste and see that the LORD is good: Psalm 34:8

Do you know about German chocolate cake and ice cream? Do you understand the ingredients and the process involved in the preparation?  The answer may be yes, at least in a minimal way. But have you ever experienced German chocolate cake served with ice cream? Have you ever tasted it?
We are called by God in the Scriptures to know about God. There is an instruction given to the intellect of who He is, what He is like, and how He may be known. That is the standard by which the validity of any  experience is to be confirmed, but that is not the experience.

To stop there, to know about Him, without experiencing Him,  without responding to His invitation, “Come unto Me”, is like having the recipe, but never eating the cake and ice cream. Thus the call of Divine urging, “O taste and see that the Lord is good”. Jesus said it plainly, “Behold I stand at the door and knock, if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and dine with him, and he with me”.

There are two requirements,  First is to listen to the Son of God more intently than to the sons of men!  (Seems obvious that this should be the action of sanity!)  Second, open the door, invite Him in. He will really come to you. I did this, seventy two years past, He did what He said He would, and I have been feasting with Him ever since and shall do so forever! The beauty of it is, it was His idea first and I can rest in the that forever. Don’t mind me if I say Hallelujah, Glory to God, Amen!
