Looking Unto Jesus

Quite a book, this one we call the “Word of God”, the “Bible”, the “Holy Scriptures”. How nice to know, it has taken all those who have received and followed its directives down through the centuries, through the difficulties of living in a world actively opposed to the message of sin and salvation, to a “far better land”.  They now await us in Heaven “with the Lord”, forever.

To just pick up one’s Bible and read the account in Hebrews 11, of these who have gone before us is a great experience.  Through faith they overcame severe opposition, and persevered.  They say to us, “You can make it, in Jesus’ name, no matter what the world and the Devil try!” Then go on to Chapter 12. Hear these words calling us on:

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed  about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside very weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before  him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of God.  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”
