TERRACE HEIGHTS ASSEMBLY OF GOD
IN THIS PLACE
ARE YOU IN A PLACE OF DISCOURAGEMENT?
Jacob probably didn’t expect to meet God out in the middle of nowhere, fleeing for his life after double-crossing his brother. But there God revealed Himself and unfolded wonderful plans for the future! Then Jacob declared, “Surely the Lord is in THIS PLACE, and I knew it not.”

ARE YOU IN A PLACE OF CURIOSITY?
Zacchaeus “wanted to see who Jesus was.” So he climbed a tree for a better view. Jesus singled him out and followed him home. There Jesus told him, “Today salvation has come to THIS HOUSE.”

ARE YOU IN A PLACE OF EMPTINESS?
Solomon built a house and invited God to move in. The One whom even the heavens cannot contain filled the temple with His glory. He said, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen THIS PLACE for myself.”

ARE YOU IN A READY-FOR-MORE PLACE?
The early followers of Jesus had received a promise of something more. “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole HOUSE where they were sitting.

There is a bold-faced philosophy which totally leaves God out of the picture. Not a good place to start! God has presented his own manifesto which says otherwise.

Infrastructure

Do I have your full attention already? Pretty exciting, huh?!?! It serves as a great illustration that we often take for granted, to the point of being oblivious to that, without which, nothing we are involved in could be happening. So what is infrastructure?

1. An underlying base or foundation especially for an organization system.

2. The basic facilities, services, and installations needed for the functioning of a community or society, such as transportation and communicating systems, water and power lines, and public institutions including schools, post offices, and prisons.

Consider traveling cross country on a highway without bridges! But how many bridges do we cross in a day’s travel without any thought that they are in the infrastructure, or what would we do without them?

Look now at three translations of 1 Corinthians chapter 11, verse 29:

(KJV)
“For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.”

(AMPC)
“For anyone who eats and drinks without discriminating and recognizing with due appreciation that [it is Christ’s] body, eats and drinks a sentences (a verdict of judgment) upon himself.”

(PHILLIPS)
“No, a man should thoroughly examine himself, and only then should he eat the bread or drink of the cup. He that eats and drinks carelessly is eating and drinking a judgment on himself, for he is blind to the presence of the Lord’s body.”

Infrastructure here? Yes, and if unrecognized, it completely defeats the purpose of the Lord’s Supper, or as we may call it, the Communion Service. The “Infrastructure” is two things that must be recognized, honored and revered, without which it is not only meaningless, but brings condemnation on the careless and irreverent.
Those two are:

1. The reality, beyond the symbolism, of Christ’s body, broken on the cross for our eternal salvation.

2. The reality of Christ’s body on earth, now, which is composed of all believers, necessitating proper treatment of other believers, as “unto Christ”.
